RCHI Undertakes Study on the Resilient Chinese Urban Village

With support from the Samuel Tak Lee Real Estate Entrepreneurship Lab, RCHI is undertaking a one-year pilot project working with Chinese colleagues in the Pearl River Delta, to develop a preliminary framework for understanding the intersection of real estate and climate change in the context of Chinese urban village redevelopment. This initial scope of work, which starts with a focus on Shenzhen, entails 1) assessing the state of knowledge about the level of risk and vulnerability of urban villages to climate change-exacerbated natural hazards, 2) ascertaining the gaps in available data, and 3) identifying promising examples of urban village redevelopment strategies that deserve more detailed follow-on study.
